Sparked by a "Flash of the Sun" by "Nikkij504gurl" and dedicated to my dearest sweet Robin...
Winged Dream
There is an old proverb of when the Earth breathes
And at the ocean's edge you feel the light breeze
For in a brief moment there is a sweet song
But only as the sun, it's very first throng
A flash of bright light it is so quick
That if you blink twice it's gone in a lick
You have to stand clear of all that's held dear
For all but bright eyes sheds all that we fear
And yet, more powerful than our tiny, sweet sun's visit...
She stood there in silhouette. I could not see her face, but only the majesty beyond her sweet chase. The galaxy beyond, it turned ever so slow. Ten million colors, a tearful life's flow. I cried into my hands, I couldn't quite stand, as she turned to look at me, a tiny man's brand.
I wanted to run, and looked left and looked right. I surged side to side in a tiny boxed flight, one hand to one side and then back to the other, I couldn't stop but to see her, her eyes knew I loved and ever so need her.
I ran to a corner and fell in my torment, my eyes never failing to see her loves foment. I could see in her eyes the majesty beyond, ten trillion bright stars all bright as life's song.
Yet slowly I felt her eyes they did not melt me, my life of lost hope so lightly flowed from me. I slowly rose steep as strength flowed from down deep, as I couldn't quite believe those eyes they sang to me.
The universe beyond it said now you are strong, a man you are now, for love is not wrong.
I now fly as a bird as through time I grew wings as one woman's sweet love it forever it sings. No longer afraid and trapped in life's creed, ths tiny one man now loves all but life's greed.
So I give you this note my dear friends to cope, through this one woman's love, my strength is great hope, there is nothing not resolvable, my friends, you and me, you the beauty of life, and me, life's dearest dope...

Thanks Nikki. I've been trying so hard to write a poem about my Robin, and kept snagging, but my last poem and your beautiful take from it really helped me to get here.

Perhaps its a bit over the top, but I consider myself the luckiest man on Earth for a multitude of reasons, obviously starting with my wife and son, but I gotta tell you, my friends here at the hubs leave me quite in awe for their support and friendship (I call it love, 'cause that's how I feel, dammit) =P

Thanks B'. I do feel as if I'm evolving. One of the things that was so frustrating when I wrote longer prose as an English major in school was I got so buried in every line. I really feel more at ease having now worked at poetry, something I once scoffed at - now I love it.
The point is, I feel like this is just the beginning for me as a writer. So, do stay tuned, my good friend...

Beautiful words for such a beautiful lady as your Robin. Even though you are well aware and grateful for your love, I have to say I thinks it's very precious and rare. Most of the long enduring relationships seem to be a comfort zone, which is not bad either. But, you and Robin have the ideal in passion, excitement, devotion and a true expression of loving each other as you are. She's a woman who knows what she wants. Otherwise, given the choice between her parents and you, youth may have made her too afraid to make the leap. Luck isn't a factor. You and Robin are both forces to be reckoned with and together are a powerhouse. I feel privileged to know you. Congrats on your anniversary!

I sat down the other day and tried to add up the days together, and that's the important word here, together, and it was something over 11,000 days including our 5 years of dating before we married (she smartly kept me at bay till she was sure about me).
I can't really fathom that many days, and can only grab from the countless incredible memories that float through my head.

Your Robin has loved you well. It is only in love that we are able to become and evolve into something so much greater. God designed us to love, to be loved and as we get older, we learn to pick our battles and we learn NOT to try to change the person we walk beside, but to embrace their flaws just as they accept ours. There is a poem that is called Comes the Dawn. I think every woman should read it and keep it close by. The author is unknown but it is one of those life changing reads. In my opinion anyway:) Bless you and your Robin always and I look forward to reading more about your ongoing love story!!!

That's the funny thing about my life. Not only is it so incredible, most acutely through my love of my life, and our spectacular son, but I find myself, not a master of life, but one of its tools, and that, with a new gift of friendship and love for others, empowered by that foundation of my wife and son's love and support, and all my experience, enables me to trust and believe that there really is nothing I cannot accomplish...
I couldn't agree with you more. Your comment back to me is so kind and generous. There have been a lot of moments in the last 24 hours where I again, am overwhelmed with all I have and all whom I love. There is even still more room for the ones I am yet to meet. Nothing like the wind, the sun and time away in the mountains to refresh your spirit. It also reassures a strength in all of us for unlimited potential:)
You and I, Ms. Dallas. are both overwhelmed, and I have to say, the notion, and the vision, I have for our futures is spectacular indeed, but more interestingly, with the help of my new friends, and those to come, as well as my pragmatic world of getting things done, we'll quite literally build that future and leave nothing to chance...
Oh, and as far as being with my long missed friends, the wind and the sun in the mountains, my spirit cries for its refreshment - hopefully soon...
